Ilocos Travel Diary: Vigan

From Ilocos, we had to travel 2 hours by land to get to Vigan - "World Heritage Site in that it is one of the few Hispanic towns left in the Philippines where its structures remained intact, and is well known for its cobblestone streets, and a unique architecture that fuses Philippine and Oriental building designs and construction, with colonial European architecture." (wikipedia)

I've heard of Vigan before and I've seen pictures so many times so I was really REALLY excited to get there because it just looked so beautiful. I was expecting it to be a huge area with lots of places to go to. But I was kinda shocked to find that it was just a short strip. One strip really called "Calle Crisologo" with shops on the left and right but nothing much else really after that. I guess sometimes pictures can really "lie". Haha, don't get me wrong. It's really beautiful and it reminds me of an old Spanish City but I guess I was just expecting so much more.

We waited until dusk to take more pictures and had dinner at one of the quaint cafes around the area. The place does look so much better at night though. It's like the street comes alive during the night time. :)

When All You Wanna Do Is Run (Away)

When I put together this outfit one Sunday morning I immediately thought of the title for my next blog post. I thought it to be extremely apt because you wear sneakers when you want to run/jog right? And I wanted to talk to you guys about a certain condition that happened to me which could make any person want to run away. Very far away.

I woke up one morning and I couldn't hear anymore.

Read on.

Mellow

There are just days when I feel like wearing a fuss-free dress. Something you can just pick out of your closet and say "ahh, this is a no-brainer" and be happy with your choice for the rest of the day! Sometimes choosing what to wear is such a hassle. It usually takes me about 10-15 minutes to decide an outfit and if I'm really stuck, it takes me probably 10 minutes more! There are those rare moments when I decide on something the night before but I usually don't plan my outfits until on the day. I like to factor in the weather, my mood and event for the day.

Ilocos Travel Diary: Fort Ilocandia, Malacanang, Paoay Church, Hidden Garden

So here it is, the first part of our Ilocos trip! We paid for a tour which lasted 3 days and each day was jam packed with so many activities! We had booked this trip on the 1st of January this year and traveled last August. I let my friends decide on the trip and itinerary and I have to say, it was a great trip! I never expected that there were so many things to see in Ilocos!

Fire Tree

I'm not really one with nature and the great outdoors in terms of knowing plant names and flowers and specific fruits and trees so I was really impressed with this beautiful fire tree/flame tree. It was the perfect time too as the leaves were slowly falling, creating a pretty path of red mixed with green. Somehow the aura had a kind of romantic feel to it as well!

The Edit

So, it's been 2 weeks since my birthday and I've realised so much. First, I am getting older. Haha. Second, my style has evolved and changed so much over the years that if I didn't stop to look back, I wouldn't have noticed!

I remember when I was in college and almost graduating, that was the time I was really into fashion and makeup. I guess you could say I was an intern, still learning the ropes and trying everything to see what would work for me. I then came to the stage where I was the "accessory queen" - piling up bracelets one after another and almost filling half my arm! And dangling earrings that were really heavy my ears would fall off. Those were the days!

And as I approached my mid 20's, I started to edit - HEAVILY. haha. No more piling up of accessories, no more heavy earrings, no more chunky rings. My style changed from all over the place to just classic - with a twist. It took me years to reach where I am now but I'm honestly happy with where I am. This is the style that I want to have, these are the kind of clothes I want to be wearing. It may take you some time, but you too will get to that point where the edit might be your last.
